Bring your toothbrush to task with optimum oral health habits. As long as you continue to treat your brush with the utmost of care, it can continue to clean your teeth effectively. If your toothbrush should become contaminated in any way, replace it as soon as possible.

Toothbrushes that are contaminated are no longer effective. This includes if you share your toothbrush with another person. Doing so will pass bacteria from one person to the other. The same can occur when toothbrushes collide. Always try to store your toothbrush apart from other brushes in a well-ventilated area free of contamination. Replace your brush at least every three to four months.

The best toothbrushes to use are ones with soft bristles. Brushes with hard bristles can be abrasive to your teeth and potentially weaken tooth enamel. Also look for brushes that fit easily into your mouth for a complete clean. Ask your dentist for product recommendations or look for the ADA Seal of Acceptance on specially marked boxes. If you choose to forgo the traditional route, electric toothbrushes are also highly effective.
