Types of Dentures Offered by Turlock Dental Care

Turlock Dental Care offers many teeth replacement options for our patients. Our doctors care about your smile and want you to find an option that fits your dental needs and your budget. Our detailed consultation process includes a thorough exam of your teeth and gums, digital x-rays, and a customized treatment plan that works for you. At Turlock Dental Care, we want our patients to be able to restore their smiles, and our friendly team provides exceptional support throughout the tooth replacement process.

Traditional Dentures

Traditional dentures are a great way to replace one or more missing teeth and are made of a flesh-colored acrylic base. Dentures are a low-cost option, can be made quickly, and do require multiple appointments in our office for adjustments. Traditional dentures are custom-made to fit around your gums and are comfortable. This type of denture is removable for cleaning and can be kept securely in place along your gum line by using a denture adhesive.

Traditional dentures can restore your smile, but do not have the chewing power and function like other options have. The denture process involves an exam in our office where impressions will be taken. Patients must return for multiple fittings once the dentures are placed for optimal fit. Dentures look natural when you smile and are a good choice for patients that want a lower cost option, and do not want to wait long to have their smile restored.

Full and Partial Dentures

Our dentures at Turlock Dental Care can be made to replace a full arch of teeth or only replace a partial area. Replacing missing teeth with dentures can help keep the natural teeth you have remaining stable, and prevent deterioration. Partial dentures are easily made to fit around your existing teeth and look natural. If you are missing one or more teeth, chewing or speaking can be difficult. Dentures can help you speak and eat normally, and they provide proper support for your face and jaw.

Custom Dentures

Turlock Dental Care offers custom dentures that look natural and are more durable compared to traditional dentures. This type of denture does cost more but is digitally made and milled out of a block of durable resin material. Digital technology is able to provide precise bite and positioning to make the dentures as accurate as possible. Custom dentures are made to suction properly to your gums and provide a comfortable and snug fit.

Custom dentures can be made for a full arch of the teeth or for a partial area and use an adhesive material to stay in place. This option is more durable and can withstand more pressure compared to traditional dentures. Multiple appointments are needed if adjustments are required, but typically custom dentures do not require as many adjustments as traditional dentures. The digital image of each denture is stored in our system, and this makes replacement easy. This option is good for patients who want to spend a little more on their custom dentures, but do not want to move forward with a more expensive option such as implant-supported dentures.

Implant-Supported Removable Dentures

Implant-supported removable dentures are anchored to either side of the jaw by two implants with artificial teeth in between them. This option involves multiple appointments to allow the implants to heal, but is very durable and is a more permanent solution compared to dentures. Implant-supported removable dentures can be snapped on and off easily for cleaning.

When you choose implant-supported dentures you are choosing an option that supports jaw bone growth and can help to permanently support your jaw and facial structure. This option doesn’t involve adhesives, slipping, or clicking, and patients can enjoy eating and speaking clearly around others without worrying their device will fall out or become loose. The implant dentures process involves the placement of the implant and a healing process. Once the implants have healed you will return to our office to have the dentures placed.

At Turlock Dental Care we have the ability to perform the entire implant procedure right in our office, making this a convenient process for our patients. Part of the implant evaluation process involves checking to make sure each patient has adequate bone in their jaw to support the implants. Turlock Dental Care can help patients who wish to have implant-supported dentures, but do not have adequate bone in the jaw by performing bone grafts. This procedure can build up the area of the jaw with synthetic bone material to prepare the area for dental implants.

Turlock Dental Care also offers mini dental implants as an option with our dentures. Mini implants are smaller, cost less, and are not as invasive during placement compared to traditional dental implants. We want all of our patients to be able to enjoy the benefits of implant-supported removable dentures, and our doctors can help you decide which option is best for you.

Permanent Implant Dentures (All-on-X)

Permanent Implant Dentures involve the placement of between four or six implants with artificial teeth in between. The dental implants serve as the support structure to hold the dentures permanently in place. This option is fixed and cannot be removed, and provides exceptional function, giving patients the ability to eat, speak, and laugh with ease. Permanent dentures do cost more, but this option eliminates the need for a full mouth of dental implants.

Turlock Dental Care refers patients to trusted oral surgeons to place implant dentures in one day with our All-on-X process. During the implant process, the oral surgeon will place the implants and attach your temporary dentures giving you a brand-new smile in one appointment. Permanent implant dentures require a healing period of between 4 to 6 months to allow the implants to fuse to the jaw bone. Once your implants have healed, we will have you return to the office and replace your temporary dentures with your final and permanent dentures.

Compare Denture Options

Choosing a tooth replacement option is a large decision, and at Turlock Dental Care we want you to choose an option that best fits your lifestyle and budget. Our team will help evaluate your smile, listen to your goals, and help you determine which option is best. Knowing the differences between each option can help make your decision.
